Nee-Na Trailer Review

The place could be anywhere, but it definitely is urbane. The high end hotels, the early morning jogging, the swimming pool, the apartment, work space et al builds up a contemporary urban space. 'Nee-Na', right from the work go is all about Neena. Though the subtitle promises the movie to be all about two women, Neena and Nalini, Neena has been made prominent.

As with the teaser, which was a character intro of Neena, the trailer too seems to be a continuation of that. The only difference being that, in the teaser, Neena did all the talking about herself. Here, we have the people around her talking about her character. Thus, we get to know that Neena is a brat, throws tantrums, is intoxicated all the time, prompting Nalini to ask if such girls are there in our land and her husband replying that she is a unique case. Neena's entry into Nalini and her husband's life is shown.

A turbulence is foretold in the narrative as Nalini remarks to Neena that they do not have any single thing they love in common and adding an edge to her voice saying that it should remain so. Neena's scornful and devil-may-care look points that all would not be so well after all. A journey to some hill station like place and Neena's dictate to Nalini's son that he should never forget her face or Neena the name ends the trailer.

Neena sure would be hard to get forget but it remains to be seen if the intention is making the very essence of Neena disappear as the movie ends. If that is the climax that director Lal Joe aims for, then, the very purpose of Neena could go flat. The trailer offers a peak into what is in store and seems to be a very interesting narrative, with a novel story. The music that accompanies the trailer is brisk, pointing to something intense told in a light vein. But the haunting tune that ends the trailer with Neena is a bath tub do point to more than just a light- hearted comedy.
