The teaser of 'NGK' came ahead of schedule and was a pleasant surprise for the fans of Suriya and Selvarghavan one of the most explosive dream combos ever to happen in Kollywood.  The teaser implies that a common man Nanda Gopalan Kumaran (Suriya) dejected by the sorry state of society enters politics and rises through the ranks.

There is a general feeling in social media that the storyline and the shots resemble Selvaraghavan's own cult classic 'Pudhupettai' and memes have started doing the rounds.  It is worth remembering that 'Pudhupettai' is the definitive textbook for politics based gangster flicks in Tamil cinema.  The film had stellar performances by not only Dhanush, Sneha and Kajal Agarwal but even minor characters shone under the brilliance of Selva.  The music by Yuvan Shankar Raja elevated the viewing experience and remains one of the most celebrated background scores.

The resemblance of 'Pudhupettai' in 'NGK only raises the bar for the latter movie to a much higher level as Selvaraghavan is a one of a kind filmmaker who can emotionally involve the audiences and with Suriya spearheading the cast it sure looks like another cult classic in the making.
