Nirbhaya's rapists hanged, celebrations outside Tihar Jail

Nirbhaya's rapists were finally hanged to death on Friday morning at Delhi's Tihar Jail. Akshay Thakur (31), Pawan Gupta (25), Vinay Sharma (26), and Mukesh Singh (32) were hanged at 5:30 am. Just two hours before the execution, the Supreme Court dismissed the final petition of the convicts for deferment of the hanging.
Jail officials revealed that the convicts didn't have any last wish to say. The convicts were told that they had exhausted all options in the court at 3:30 am. They refused to have the last meal. They also refused to take a bath, officials added.
This was the first execution to take place in the court since 2015. Other prisoners could hardly sleep after they came to know about the scheduled execution, a report says.
Soon after the news of the hanging came out, many people, most of them youngsters, spontaneously gathered outside the jail and celebrated the execution.
