Njangalude Veettile Athidhikal,jayaram,Priyamani

Senior director Sibi Malayil seems to be in  a very difficult proportion, now a days. The veteran who hasn’t found a decent hit in his last dozen outing is finding it thorny to trace a way to succeed. In his latest  ‘Njangalude Veettile Athithikal’, even after with a  convincing story and decent performances from  the key players, the movie fails to impress, enthuse or amuse at any points of its narratives...

The movie has Jayaram as Manoj, a lawyer who is married with Bhavana (Priyamani). Manoj occasionally does some real estate business to gross some big money. But the couple is not having a happy life as both the couples are consistently complaining about each other’s problems with Manoj’s parents played by Innocent and K P A C Lalitha. But they couldn’t sort it out and leaves things as such. The problems become grave as Manoj fails to get a goon Rajan(Kalabhavan Shajon) out of the court due to his strange ways and mental turmoil and Maya(Lena), an old friend of Bhavana comes up to discuss the family issues. The couple and their daughter who embarks on a family trip with some business intentions too, falls into an accident that changes life for ever..

The problem with the movie is that the whole theme is handled in a inept matter by K Gireesh kumar, whose script lines fail to bringing any impressions. It is of immense pain that a seasoned director like Sibi Malayil is still not able to find the merit of the scripts on which he is working .In the performance side, Jayaram is his usual self while Priyamani suits her character. Naren is excellent, Shajon is impressive and all others suit their respective characters. But, on the whole, none has a role that is remarkable and could be cherished for long.

In the technical sides the cinematography by Sameer Haq is the saving grace of the film which gives a mood for the family drama.  The BG scores also gel well with the film, but the songs are just above average.

With another sure flop in his kitty, it is time for Sibi Malayil to take a gap and give a fine reassessment to figure out what all are going wrong from his side. Especially for a filmmaker who has made some of the memorable classic of the eighties and nineties, this downfall is indeed painful.
