No change in vaccine dosage, target is 1 crore doses per day

The Centre today clarified that Covishield won't be a one-dose vaccine in India. The Union Health Ministry today confirmed that there is no change in the schedule of Covishield doses. The gap between the first and second doses will be 12 weeks for both Covishield and Covaxin.

This clarification has come in the wake of a fake report claiming that the Modi government is looking at reducing the number of doses to just one against the available scientific evidence. There was always a suspicion, as expressed by several alert Netizens, that it was a planted piece of news to create anxiety in the general public. Many gullible citizens took the fake report too seriously and started outraging for a day.

Talking about the availability of vaccines, IMCR said that there is no shortage and that 10 million doses will be administered per day by mid-July or August. He iterated that the entire population of India will be given vaccination by the end of this year.

The government is happy that recovered cases are more than daily cases. The Health Ministry emphasized that recoveries have gone up to 92% and that 20 lakh tests on an average have been done in the past week.
