It is widely known that Reserve Bank of India has officially announced the ban of Rs 2000 notes. Reportedly, news also came out that the old Rs 2000 notes in circulation can be exchanged at nearby banks.

Meanwhile, this afternoon RBI has released an official note stating that NO FORM, NO PROOF OF IDENTITY TO EXCHANGE 2000 NOTES AT BANKS.

Earlier instructions regarding the exchange of Rs 2000 notes have been withdrawn immediately. As SBI, the country's largest bank does, so will all others.
