Bishop Franco Mulakkal, it's known, has been in the news ever since he was accused of sexually assaulting a nun for two years. He went to jail, only to be given a bail most recently.

A couple of days later, Father Kuriakose Kattuthara, the one who testified against the Bishop in the rap case, was found dead on Monday morning at his residence in Jalandhar. So far, the cause of his death is unknown but his brother has been quoted as saying by a media house that he is suspicious that it's a murder.

Days before his death, Father Kuriakose reportedly alleged that he was receiving threats from church officials for his support of the victim (the nun).

The murder has come as a rude shock. For sure, the media's spotlight on the rape case will now only intensify.
