Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra hospitalised!

Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra was admitted to a hospital in Panipat after leaving a welcome ceremony at his village midway due to fever. Neeraj, who created history in Tokyo by winning independent India's first Olympic gold was on a busy schedule since his return to the country.

Chopra was attending various felicitation functions in Delhi. Finally, he returned home to his native Khandra village, around 15 km from Panipat, on Tuesday to a rousing reception from the locals. Reports suggest that Chopra may be under fever due to exertion, owing to his hectic schedule since his return from Tokyo. He had was tested negative for COVID-19 a few days ago.

On Sunday, Chopra was among the Tokyo Olympians who attended the Independence Day function at the Red Fort. In the evening, he was the cynosure of all eyes at the felicitation function organised by the Indian Olympic Association.

Commenting on his health condition, Neeraj's mom Saroj Devi said, “He will be receiving a grand welcome, I have prepared ‘churma’ for him. We will keep his gold medal in the temple as it is after the blessings of God that he has reached these heights. I am looking forward to his arrival".

It is notable that Chopra had bagged the gold in the recently held Tokyo Olympics in the javelin throw. Since his return to the nation, the 23-year-old Haryana-born athlete has been receiving a hero's welcome.
