The price of Onions has increased to an all time high in Tamil Nadu and it is currently at Rs 130 per kg. This sudden increase in price of Onions has been heavily criticized by all political party members in the past few days.

Yesterday the Tamil Nadu government launched sale of onions through its farm fresh outlets at a cost of Rs 45 a kilo and 150 tons were procured. The DMK said that price rise was due to hoarding and demanded AIADMK not to implement the Centre's three farm laws in the state.

Now Makkal needhi maiam president Kamal Haasan has sarcastically tweeted on onion price rise, as he posted in Tamil, translating to "If Periyar was alive today he won't scold anyone as Onion, and with its price sky rocketing, our mothers won't have onion in the food they cook as well, onion will your price come down?".
