Only good things will happen on the Cauvery front, Ponnar assures

Union Minister of State for Finance Pon Radhakrishnan has said that something ‘good’ is soon to happen on the Cauvery front.

The Minister was inaugurating a special camp at Kulasekaranpudoor near Nagercoil after which he spent some time interacting with newsmen.  Condemning the black-flag demonstration against the Prime Minister a few days back in Chennai, Ponnar said that the Prime Minister was in Chennai mainly to inaugurate the Defence Ministry’s Expo and to take part in the diamond-jubilee celebrations of the Cancer Institute.

“Both were apolitical events and displaying black-flags to the Prime Minister on such occasions was an uncalled for action. I’m sure the Centre would find a feasible solution to the Cauvery river water sharing row and we shouldn’t be doing unwarranted things to nullify the efforts of our protests in this regard,” he said.

“Prime Minister has wished Tamils on Tamil New Year stating that their dreams would be fulfilled soon: there is a hidden message in this for Tamils and I’m sure the Cauvery Management Board might soon become a reality. On another note, he said that he was of the opinion that nothing less than death penalty would be sufficient to check increasing incidents of crime against girl children and minor girls.
