Oopiri

Oopiri, poetically titled and starring a big star like Nagarjuna, has many hits going for it.  Right from the characters to the premise, the flavour and the story line, everything has unarguably raised expectations around the film.  If you had any doubt, the hardly 50 seconds long teaser said it all: that we are in for a human-drama, sans loud music or crass dialogue.  As the caption goes, it is a celebration of life.

Gopi Sunder's music may just be another of the film's pluses.  Set to release on March 25, it is a Telugu-Tamil bi-lingual.  Karthi seems to be playing a convict-turned-happy-go-lucky guy.  Tamannah Bhatia is paired up with Karthi and they are seen living light-veined moments.  Karthi, who plays an English-language illiterate, asks for the meaning of Nag's words, which are translated for him by Tamannah.

Produced by Prasad V Potluri, the film is based on the French film The Intouchables.  While Nag is playing a quadriplegic, Karthi is playing his caretaker.  Tamannah Bhatia is playing a key role here.  Adivi Sesh and Anushka are cast in cameo roles.  Shriya Saran, the lucky charm in Nag's films, is playing a special, guest role.

Directed by Vamsi Paidipally, the cinematography is by PS Vinod.

Nag joined the coveted Rs. 50 cr club only in January with Soggade Chinni Nayana.  Let's see if Ooopiri manages to break this record in both the languages combined!
