I was depressed after 'Kabali' release - Pa Ranjith gets emotional

Pa. Ranjith who just completed a decade in Tamil cinema as a filmmaker is today one of the most talked about and sought after. Known for his strong poltical views on the oppressed people and their upliftment that he regularly infuses in his movies he has opted for the romance genre for his next 'Natchathiram Nagargirathu'.

Speaking at the grand audio launch of 'Natchathiram Nagargirathu' Pa. Ranjith praised Kalipuli S Thanu one of the chief guests as a director's delight. He recalled that when his 'Kabali' produced by Thanu and starring Superstar Rajinikanth was released he became depressed due to negative reviews.

Thanu however had called Ranjith aside and showed him details of the strong box office performance on 'Kabali' and helped him in recovering from his low point. The director also praised the veteran producer for giving him a free hand even though he had mixed feelings about the climax of the film.

'Natchathiram Nagargirathu', meanwhile is releasing worldwide in theaters on August 31st. The film stars Kalaiyarasan, Kalidas Jayaram, Dushara Vijayan, Hari Krishnan, Vinoth, Subathra Robert, Shabeer Kallarakkal, Regin Rose, Damu, Gnanaprasad, Vinsu Rachel Sam, Arjun Prabhakaran, Uthaiya Surya, Stephen Raj, Sherin Celin Mathew and Manisa Tait.

Meanwhile Ranjith's next biggie 'Chiyaan 61' stars Vikram with GVP scoring the music and K.E. Gnanavelraja producing on a grand scale under his banner Studio Green. The project wil go on floors in mid September this year.
