Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to get tested for the novel coronavirus after recently coming in contact with a philanthropist who tested positive for COVID-19 days after meeting with the PM.

Faisal Sultan, CEO of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Imran Khan's personal physician, reportedly told media that the PM would go through the coronavirus test soon. Faisal Edhi, the son of late philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi and chairman of the Edhi Foundation, met Imran Khan last week to donate Rs 10 million for the premier's coronavirus relief fund. "Prime Minister Khan will undergo test of the coronavirus to show that he is a responsible citizen of this county. We will follow all protocols in place and make recommendations accordingly," Faisal Sultan reportedly stated. Meanwhile, Faisal Edhi's son Saad mentioned that his father started showing symptoms for the virus last week, a while after meeting Imran Khan in Islamabad on April 15. "The symptoms lasted for four days before subsiding. He has not been admitted to any hospital and is self-isolating," Saad said.

As of Tuesday, Pakistan reported 16 more deaths from the coronavirus, taking the country's death toll to 201, while the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country stood at 9565.
