VJ Chithra who passed away due to suicide on 9th December endeared herself to the Tamil audiences by playing the key character Mullai in the 'Pandian Stores' serial telecast on Vijay TV. Her costars from the show including Kumaran, Stalin, Sujitha, Shanthi Williams and others were seen mourning her loss in her funeral.

It is show business and the show must go on and likewise, the shooting of 'Pandian Stores' resumed today in Chennai. A framed photo of Chithra as Mullai was garlanded and the words WE MISS YOU hung above it.

Actress Sujitha then read out poetry in tribute of Chithra as the rest of the cast members were crying in memory. In the meantime, the show producers are said to be in two minds regarding the Mullai character.

One is that since it is difficult for them and the audience to think of any other actress in place of Chithra as Mullai there is a thinking that the directors may just drop the character from the serial giving her closure.

Another line of thought is to continue the character after some time and Chithra's close friend Sharanya Turedi is said ot be the first choice. We will have to wait and see if Mullai appears on Pandian Stores again in another body or not. Chithra will however appear in a few more episodes that have been already shot.
