The verdict of 2019 will be out tomorrow (May 23). The Election Commission is making elaborate and untiring arrangements to conduct the counting process smoothly.

At this time, there are several indications that violence could break out in parts of India because of some Opposition parties, which are expected to get a drubbing. For example, Bihar's Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) leader Upendra Kushwaha has unabashedly warned of violence "if the BJP tries to manipulate the EVMs".

Last week, we quoted a journalist as saying that violence is feared in parts of Andhra Pradesh on the counting day. Hundreds of police companies will be deployed in Seema and Godavari districts to ensure law and order, the report said.

Netizens are speculating that some political leaders on the losing side could provoke party cadres to go on a rampage in parts of India.

As things stand, however, the fears seem to be highly exaggerated and unfounded. There seem to be no intelligence reports with the government predicting law and order issues.
