Despite several setbacks, Shraddha Das has been landing "very good roles" for which she feels extremely lucky. In this exclusive interview to IndiaGlitz, Shraddha Das talks about her bold role in Guntur Talkies, her career graph, what she thinks about the kind of roles she gets to play in Telugu and Hindi, why she thinks Naresh is the Paresh Rawal of Telugu cinema, and more.

What is the character Revolver Rani about?

It's a shocking role. Shraddha Das and Revolver Rani are contrasting ones. It was very tough to do this role. It is inspired by Kangna Ranaut`s role in the film by same name. It took a lot of guts to do this role. The audience, too, will be shocked. You have watched me in bold roles so far. This one is even more challenging. I hope everyone will receive Revolver Rani positively. I think this character has the potential to elicit four extreme reactions: hate, love, or wonderment that I have gone mad, and others will say, Wow! How she could do this?'

You have said Revolver Rani and Shraddha Das are a total contrast. What kind of a person are you in real life?

I am extremely cheerful, happy and loud. On the other hand, Revolver Rani picks up men and rapes them. She is very serious; she speaks very less. Everybody gets scared of her. She doesn`t smile, except for sarcastic smiles.

Have you taken a cue from Kangna Ranaut`s acting?

Yes, I took a bit of inspiration from her.

You say you rape men in the movie. Is this not onscreen vulgarity?

Not at all. Praveen Sattaru is an intelligent director. If he were not the director, I would not have done this role . Expressions are also very light, subtle. They never look vulgar for sure. Furthermore, there is no skin show at all.

What are the two shades of Revolver Rani?

In the flashback, she is Psycho-like and insane. In the present, she is angry. There is also action.

How was it using real guns?

They are very heavy. But the bullets were dummy. Using such a gun is like seeing a Lakshmi bomb burst in front of your eyes. I used cotton to lessen the impact of the sound. I have a thin frame, but I had to ensure that I hold the revolver perfectly because my character's name itself has a revolver in it!

You have worked with seniors like Naresh, and Mahesh Manjrekar on the one hand, and with juniors like Siddu. How was the experience?

Naresh sir is like the Paresh Rawal of Telugu cinema. He is seen talking casually this minute and becomes the character the next minute. There are some really cute scenes between us. I was not nervous working with him. Mahesh Manjrekar is professional and has dubbed his own voice, so have I. Although a don, he has given some very cute expressions. I have no scenes with Rashmi. I think she is looking very hot. Siddu is new but extremely talented. After the movie releases, much appreciation will go to Siddu.

What character are you playing in Great Grand Masthi?

I am playing a sweet, innocent, naive wife who does Karva Chauth for her husband. She sobs for him. I am Aftab`s wife in the movie.

Why do you think you get contrasting roles in Hindi and Telugu?

It`s very surprising. In my debut film Lahore, I played a Pakistani girl, a psychiatrist, who is covered from head to toe. In Siddu From Srikakulam, I sported a bikini. In Rey, I played an American pop star. In none of the five languages, I never repeated myself in any movie.

Are you satisfied with the way your career has shaped up or do you have any regrets?

I had some regrets in the initial days. But of late I am getting to do what I want to do. I am very happy. But whatever I have done, I have done with full conviction. Some of the roles, no other heroine would have done. And all the material wealth that I have, it's only because of Telugu cinema.

What are your upcoming projects?

After Guntur Talkies, my Kannada film Pooja, for which I have shot separately some scene sin Telugu, will be releasing. I then have a Bengali movie, which is a remake of Don Seenu. Jeet, a top star, is playing the male lead. Great Grand Masti releasing in June.
