'Piku' kick starts its Awards Journey!

Shoojit Sircar's celebrated quirky family drama, Piku, bagged the Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor nods at the ongoing Indian Film Festival of Melbourne in Australia. The film, which turned out to be one of the biggest hits of 2015 and has been critically acclaimed globally, was toplined by actors Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan.

Shoojit Sircar who represented Team 'Piku' at IFFM picked up the best director trophy. The film maker said, "I am overwhelmed by the honour bestowed by IFFM and the love and affection of the people world over for 'Piku'. I am grateful to my writer Juhi Chaturvedi, my partner in Rising Sun films Ronnie Lahiri, our producers Sneha Rajani, NP Singh and Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika and Irrfan. I am thankful to the entire team for their hardwork in bringing the film to the audience. I am delightfully surprised by the win."

Producer Sneha Rajani, Dy.President and Head, MSM Motion Pictures said, "We are extremely grateful to the IFFM for honoring our film with 3 awards. Actor Irrfan Khan, who won the best actor award for the film added, - 'Piku' is one of the films closest to my heart and it gives me immense pleasure to have won my first award for Rana. Both Irrfan and Rana thank Shoojit and the entire team of Piku for this wonderful experience. Thanks to IFFM for this honour."

'Piku' was co-produced by MSM Motion Pictures, Saraswati Creations and Rising Sun Films. The film was distributed worldwide by Yash Raj Films.
