Police complaint against Rajinikanth for insulting social reformer

A police complaint has been lodged against Superstar Rajinikanth by Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam for "mouthing a blatant lie" relating to Tamil social activist Periyar.

Recently at a media event, the 'Darbar' actor reportedly said that the idols of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita were paraded in an offensive way at an 'anti-superstition' rally led by Periyar in 1971 in Tamil Nadu's Salem.

As per DVK president Kolathur Mani, Rajini's claim is a lie.  He has demanded a public apology from the legendary actor.  Mani has sought registration of FIR against Rajini under Section 153 (Promoting enmity between different groups) and Section 505 (Statements conducing public mischief) of Indian Penal Code.
