In March this year, veteran Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty joined the BJP ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections and immediately made a controversial speech. Addressing a large crowd, Mithun said that he is a pure cobra. "You will be finished in one bite. Now, remember the new slogan. One bite and you will become a photo," he added. A report says that the 71-year-old actor used a line from his movie 'MLA Fatakeshto' to say that he will thrash anybody and that the enemy's body will be found at the crematorium.

Mithun Chakraborty was today questioned for the speech for 45 minutes. ANI today reported that he has been virtually questioned by the Kolkata Police. An FIR was registered earlier against his speech.

Speaking to Republic Bharath, Mithun months back stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given him a guideline on the campaigning. The saffron party badly lost to the TMC on May 2.

After Mamata Banerjee won the third term in May, BJP leaders and cadres have faced intimidation and threats in Bengal. More than 20 BJP MLAs are likely to defect to the TMC soon.
