Poll violence in Bengal due to one party?

  • IndiaGlitz, [Thursday,April 11 2019]

It has been reported by sections of media that the party workers of the ruling TMC have been resorting to stray violence during the first phase of polling in West Bengal. Certain video clips from Cooch Behar constituency suggest that several voters suspected to be of BJP have been forcibly turned out from polling booths.

There is a clear pattern emerging from the two constituencies in W. Bengal. Peaceful polling in booth where para military forces have been deployed and tension & intimidation where state police is the only force. In the latter, non-TMC agents have been driven out & so have voters. People are voting peacefully all over India. The only exception is West Bengal —in booths where para military forces have not been deployed, says Swapan Dasgupta, a Rajya Sabha MP.

While detailed reports are awaited, sections of Netizens are complaining that the poll-related violence could have been avoided.
