The flash-strike indulged in by the staff members and employees of the Pondicherry State Road Transport Corporation (PSRTC) was called off in the afternoon yesterday and buses started operating from last night onwards.

Transport Corporation employees had been indulging in strike for the past three days from last Saturday protesting against the delay in hike in their salaries. The strike was complete as it crippled not only the local transport but also the buses which ply from Puducherry to Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.

It is said that the staff members were not paid salary for the month of October but continued to work in November hoping the salary would be paid soon. They then indulged in a flash strike demanding payment of salary at once. In view of the strike, no buses plied in Puducherry and Karaikkal, causing huge difficulties to people who rely mostly on buses to commute.

In the meantime, the management held talks with the Unions of striking employees wherein it accepted all the demands putforth by the Union and reportedly gave a time-frame within which all their demands would be met. Following the successful talks, the Unions announced calling off of the strike after which buses started plying normaly from last night.
