With just a fortnight to go for the grand release of Mani Ratnam's magnum opus 'Ponniyin Selvan' aka 'PS-1' the team is on high gear promotional activities. In yesterday's event in Chennai the legendary filmmaker gave a hot update on the release plans for the sequel of the film as well.

Accordingly he stated that 'Ponniyin Selvan 2' aka 'PS-2' will release worldwide in nine months time which is roughly in the month of June in 2023. Filming is complete for both the parts but hectic postproduction work is on for the sequel.

'Ponniyin Selvan' based on Kalki's epic novel of the same name has music by A.R. Rahman. The ensemble cast is headed by Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Jayaram. Prabhu, Sarathkumar, Nizhalgal Ravi, Vikram Prabhu, Ashwin Kakkamanu, Rahman, Prakash Raj, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Jayachithra also costar. The first part releases worldwide in five languages on September 30th 2022.
