Legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam achieved his dream project 'Ponniyin Selvan'. The first installment of the movie stormed the screens this year and became Tamil cinema's highest-grosser. Now, the makers have dropped a massive update on the much-awaited sequel, 'PS-2'.

Indigalitz broke to you earlier today that the team will announce the official release date of 'Ponniyin Selvan 2'. The production houses, Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies took to their social media handles a few minutes ago and unveiled a special promo video with the PS-2 release date: 28 April 2023.

The promo video shows the main characters: Aditha Karikalan (Chola crown prince played by Chiyaan Vikram), Arunmozhi Varman (Young Chola prince played by Jayam Ravi) and Nandhini (a woman who took an oath to destroy the Cholas). Sharing the promo, the studios captioned, "Let’s get those swords in the air as we await the 28th of April 2023!" (sic).

Ponniyin Selvan features an extensive star cast including Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha Krishnan, Jayaram, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prakash Raj, R Sarath Kumar, Prabhu, R Parthiban, Rahman, Jayachithra, Kishore, Ashwin Kakumanu and others.

AR Rahman composed the musical score for the sequel as well with cinematography by Ravi Varman and editing by Sreekar Prasad. 'PS-2' has a production design by Thota Tharani and costume designs by Eka Lakhani. Ponniyin Selvan is the official adaptation of the renowned author Amarar Kalki's epic historical fiction novel of the same name.
