'Ponniyin Selvan-I' is on a record-setting spree in the US

'Ponniyin Selvan-I' is truly living up to its epic image. The film is not just Mani Ratnam's magnum opus but also Kollywood's one of the biggest-ever crown jewels.

In the US, right from the start, it has been achieving milestones. The epic historical fiction is now the Numero Uno Tamil movie in the US, comfortably trumping the Rajinikanth-starrer '2.0' on Sunday.

The multi-starrer, co-starring Karthi, Vikram and Jayam Ravi, has grossed more than 5.5 million USD in just ten days and is still counting.

The film is followed by 2Point0: $5,509,317 (2018), Kabali: $4,585,808 (2016), Vikram: $2,858,359 (2022) and Petta: $2,553,065 (2019). As can be seen, 'PS-I' is on its way to becoming the biggest Tamil film in the US in terms of business by a distance.

The themes of vengeance, deception and war have been highlighted by Lyca Productions. 'PS-2' will hit the screens next year. It was shot along with the first part. Both parts took 150 working days.
