Mani Ratnam's magnum opus 'Ponniyin Selvan' made in two parts is one of the costliest films ever made in Tamil cinema and also has the distinction of being the biggest multistarrer ever. The shooting has been going on for almost two years due to the COVID 19 pandemic but the celebrated director has made it in record time.

Jayam Ravi who plays the title character of Arulmozhi Varman aka 'Ponniyin Selvan' has just wrapped up his portions in the mega project. He has gushed "They say leadership and learning is indispensable to each other. To watch you lead this magnum opus with utmost precision whilst imparting so much knowledge around has been an experience of a lifetime sir".

'Ponniyin Selvan' has music by A,R, Rahman and features the top notch ensemble of Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Jayaram, Prabhu, Nizhalgal Ravi, Ashwin Kakkamanu, Riaz Khan, Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Prakash Raj and Vikram Prabhu.

The first part of 'Ponniyin Selvan - PS1' is expected to release in the beginning of 2022 followed by 'PS2' by the end. Its jointly produced by Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies and Lyca Productoins.
