Tollywood senior actor Mohan Babu has been known well among Kollywood audience as well, as Superstar Rajnikanth's best friend, and Rajnikanth had even played a cameo in his movie. Mohan Babu has been a philanthropist as well and he runs the most popular Sree Vidyaniketan Engineering college.

Recently the actor had announced that along with the students of his college he will launch a massive protest against the Telugu Desam Party in Tirupathi in connection with the Fees reimbursement issue. As the Lok Sabha elections are nearing this protest announcement from Mohan Babu had created a outrage in political circles.

Following this, as per government orders, Tirupati police made lot of cops to monitor Sree Vidyaniketan college and also deployed cops in Mohan Babu's residence and placed him under house arrest as a precautionary measure to avoid law and order problems because of his huge protest plans. Despite this, Mohan Babu is still keen on carrying on the protest. Mohan Babu has been speculated to have been roped in for Suriya 38 by Sudha Kongara and Maniratnam's Ponniyin Selvan as well.
