Prakash Raj receives Santharam award

Prakash Raj, who meticulously lived the role of silk weaver in the film ‘Kanchivaram’ bagged the prestigious Santharam award for best actor. Director Priyadarshan was honoured with the award for best director for the same film. Rani Mukherjee received the best actress role for her role in Dil Bole Hadippa’.

Priyan expressed his happiness in receiving his first best director award in his career spanning 27 years and 80 films. Nanditha Das received the award for best debutante director for her movie Firaq, while Irfan Khan and Anushka Sharma received the award for best newcomers for their roles in ‘New York’ and ‘Rab de Banadi Jodi’.

Mohan Babu's involvement in the Samaikhya Andhra agitation has translated into virulent attacks on his sons Vishnu and Manoj and daughter Lakshmi Prasanna, here in Pet Basheerabad in Hyderabad. Manoj was shooting for a film in the city, when activists, who identified themselves as belonging to the TRS, ransacked the shooting equipment and tried to attack the brother-sister duo, who scampered away
