Pranchiyettan and the Saint

After their much critically acclaimed movie 'Paleri Manickyam- Oru Paathira Kolapathakathite Katha' which earned the megastar another state award for best actor, Mammootty and Renjith is once again joining hands for a satire.

Officially publicised as a black comedy, this new movie titled 'Pranchiyettan and the Saint' was completed in a fewer days of shoot in a normal budget. Planning to get to theatres for this Ramzan, `Pranchiyettan and the Saint' tells a much different story from the Renjith regulars.

Mammootty plays a rice merchant Chirammal Eaanasu Francis, popularly known by the name `Pranchiyettan' hailing from Trichur. He is an immensely rich business man who had been traditionally into rice selling. He is a man who is out there with a helping hand to the people around him. Though he had every other fortune, Pranchiyettan feels that he commands no needed respect from the society, as he is uneducated. The movies tracks his hilarious ways into making more respectability and honour for himself.

The light-hearted comedy with the national award winning actress Priyamani as Mammootty's heroine, will have a rich Thrissur flavour and accent in its proceedings.

The intense craving for popularity and respect had a turning point when Pranchiyettan meets a 15-year-old boy named Poly. The interactions of Poly with Pranchiyettan changes the perceptions of life of the latter and transforms him. While Ganapathy plays Poly, Priyamani appears as a fashion designer named Padmashree. The character of the saint is still maintained as a suspense and was shot at Goa. According to the unconfirmed reports Australian actor Jesse Fox Allen is said to have done the role.

Apart from them -Jagathy Sreekumar, Innocent, Khushboo, Bijumenon, Siddhique, Jayaraj Warrier, Tini Tom, T G Ravi,Ramu and Edavela Babu are also part of the castings of ''Pranchiyettan and the saint'.
