As India is shaken up with yet another rape, celebrities of B-town are saddened and irked at the same time at the rise of women abuse and crime rates. Prasoon Joshi, whose work has always reflected an unstinted support and sensitivity for Women related causes, opened up recently over the recent Mumbai gang rape.

Expressing his frustration over nation’s law and order, the well-acclaimed lyricist-writer strongly feels that it’s high time the judicial system takes immediate action against criminals for such cruel acts.
Firstly respect and admiration for the young girl who had the courage to go ahead and report the wrong that was done. Now, as a society and its institutions - be it the Police, Law and justice - we need to ensure that the criminals are severely punished,- stated Joshi.
He also believes that even people has to change their outlook towards women. At the same time ground-breaking efforts have to be made to ensure that a social change is brought about in our thinking, attitude, traditional practices and behaviour towards women of our society.
Whilst this kind of deep change will take time to show results in the meanwhile the Law and administration has to take exemplary strong steps. No tolerance policy has to be applied to crimes against women. Our society is ill. And the Law enforcement and Administration cannot just stand and watch it fall apart, added Joshi further.
For the records, the ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ famed scriptwriter frequently writes columns and is an active speaker on platforms such as the Jaipur Literature festival where he has spoken in Support of women and decried the chauvinistic and misogynist male psyche.
On several occasions, he has penned songs reflect the innate strength of a woman.. In fact, many listeners were surprised to find that it was Prasoon a male songwriter who has written about women issues so insightfully.
