Prince William and Kate Middleton celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary on April 29, but the celebrations this year will be markedly muted. The couple has decided to keep it to themselves as Kate keeps fighting cancer and has, in fact, now gone to the hospital as part of preventative chemotherapy following a significant surgery earlier this year.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams has revealed that the parents of three have no big anniversary plans following Kate's treatment. Their wedding was on April 29, 2011, at Westminster Abbey, in a "marriage of like minds." Their lives have revolved around creating as normal an existence as possible for their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, amid ongoing turmoil in the royal family.

Prince William has stood in the gap even through Kate's hospitalization, reiterating their commitment to make their children's well-being a priority. For instance, public commemorations would include posting pictures or videos of the whole family, but maybe not this year, so as to give Kate space and privacy.

The two met at the University of St. Andrews back in 2001, developed a friendship, then later started dating and got engaged in 2010. Overcoming rough patches during the relationship, William stressed that their union was built on firm friendship.
