Priyanka Gandhi trolled for silly speech

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was in Areekode in Kerala when she spoke of her grandmother's soccer tastes and preferences. "Not many people know that Indira Gandhi Ji, my grandmother, used to watch World Cup Soccer. In 1982, we were watching the final, I asked her, 'Who are you cheering for?'. She said, 'India isn't playing so I will cheer for Italy, today.' My son and Rahul Gandhi Ji are great soccer fans," she said.

The speech has led to much trolling. "With this, Pri Vadra completely changes the election narrative," joked @IndiaspeaksPR. Many feel that such elements in a speech don't help.

In another speech, she claimed that Narendra Modi never visited Varanasi, his constituency, in the last five years. Apparently, this is untrue.

Further, she said in Wayanad (from where her brother, Rahul, is contesting) that Modi is the weakest Prime Minister India has ever seen. "There was never a weaker PM and government than what we have now. Questioning the government's wrongdoings is nationalism," she said. Priyanka added that the Centre was apathetic when farmers walked to Delhi to get their issues addressed in 2018.
