Producer Council gives free hand to Christmas & Pongal releases

The Christmas weekend starting Friday the 21st of December has five major films locking it as their release dates what channel are Vijay Sethupathi's 'Seethakathi', Sivakarthikeyan's 'Kanaa', Dhanush's 'Maari 2' , Jayam Ravi's 'Adanga Maru' and Vishnu Vishal's 'Silukkuvarpatti Singam'. Trade pundits are of the opinion that each film will eat into the others collection and would affect the business of all.
The Producer Council called for a meeting of the Release Regulation Committee along with the concerned producers. At the meeting none of the producers we're willing to back down as the all felt a festival season release will be lucrative to all of them. Hence the Council has released a statement that there is no restrictions in the release of any film on Christmas as well as the Pongal holidays starting on January 10th as well.
So January too will see a surge of released apart from the three biggies, Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Petta', Thala Ajith's 'Viswasam' and Simbu's 'Vanthaa Rajavaathan Varuven'.
