Producer Jhabak's legal battle against Tamil Media baron

Saturday, August 22, 2015 • Tamil Comments

Nemichand Jhabak is a production house which has been successfully venturing in film production and distribution for almost five decades now. The prestigious firm has issued a ‘Public Notice’ of legal proceedings against the Media baron Sun TV Network Ltd, which has been holding the world negative rights of the 81 films in the list (attached below.

Speaking to the Indiaglitz correspondent, Hitesh Jhabak a partner of Nemichand Jhabak said "We have been engaging in film production for more than 45 years since the days of my father. I have an experience of over 25 years in this industry. The Sun TV Network brought the negative rights of these 81 films from us in the year 2000 and they have been airing these movies for these 15 years in their Tamil movie channels. Even today morning they aired MGR-Latha starrer ‘Urimaikkural’. Recently they have filed a criminal case in Saidapet Court against us for selling the rights of these films for a wrong price and sought the return of money in exchange of rights. This was done with intent to defame our organization. We moved the case to the Madras High Court and accepted to repay the money and get back the rights. However, they have not made any representation during the hearing at the High Court nor have they responded to three notices sent by our lawyers. That’s why we have issued a public notice as suggested by our lawyers. "
