PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has officially been banned from primary schools in Gujarat, making it the first state to implement a ban on the online game.

PUBG is an online battle royale game that gained traction soon after its PC and Xbox One launch and became a sensation when the game was released on iOS and Android devices. PUBG is one of the most successful and highly addictive games that is popular among young adults across the globe right now.

However, on the downside, the adverse effects of the game, one of which has been responsible for poor academic performance of the students, caused Gujarat's primary education department to issue a circular after a recommendation by the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, which directed all the District Primary Education Officers to take all the necessary precautions to enforce a ban on the multiplayer battleground game in primary schools.

“The NCPCR had sent a letter to all the states and recommended a ban on the game. All the states are required to implement it. Looking at the negative effects of the game, we had recently sent a letter to the state government recommending a ban on the game,” the Chairperson of the Gujarat Child Rights Body said.
