Puri Jagannadh to film critics: Hug makers of flop movies, dont kill them

Puri Jagannadh has once again hit out at film critics and review-writers. In his latest podcast, the director opined that flop films are essential because they feed hundreds of families.

"About 95% of films are flops. These movies confuse reviewers, who tend to kill these movies by giving poor ratings. Producers leave the industry because they are broke. But the fact is that it's the flops that sustain the film industry. They create livelihoods for artists, technicians, workers, who get paid and also pay taxes to the government," Puri, who is currently doing 'Fighter' with Vijay Deverakonda, said in a 7-minute monologue.

He added, "With your reviews, live updates and negative tweets, you ruin the fate of movies. I appeal to critics to please save flop movies. Nobody is a genius here. Directors make mistakes, knowingly or otherwise. If you want to give a film a 2-star rating, give it a 3-star rating. This won't save the film, but at least the producer will be able to get a better satellite deal. Don't be ruthless."

Puri, known for hits like 'iSmart Shankar', said that critics should give a hug to flop moviemakers instead of killing their movies.
