How has 'Puriyatha Puthir' & 'Kurangu Bommai' performed in box office?

This week's new Tamil releases are Vijay Sethupathi starrer 'Puriyatha Puthir' and actor Vidharth's 'Kurangu Bommai'. The former has received mixed reviews while the latter is being showered with praises by critics and fans alike.

As far as Box Office collections are concerned 'Kurangu Bommai' has taken a Very Good Opening in Chennai Box office. The film directed by debutant Nithilan Swaminathan released nine screens across Chennai and it had 73 shows screened in its first three day weekend. Despite lacking star value, the film has achieved an average of 85% occupancy in its first weekend, thanks to positive reviews and word of mouth. The film has collected Rs.17,67,266 in Chennai.

'Puriyatha Puthir' which has Vijay Sethupathi the current market leader as its main lead has also taken a Good Opening in Chennai Box office. The film got released in 21 theatres across Chennai and it has had 238 shows screened in its first three days. With this the film has collected Rs.73,79,910 with an average occupancy of 85%.
