Superstar Rajnikanth whose latest release Darbar is running successfully, had recently invited controversy with his speech in the 50th anniversary function of Tughlaq magazine. His statement on Murasoli as well as the placing of a garland with slippers over Rama and Sita statues turned controversial.

The Dravida Kazhagam had filed a case against the actor for his statements, and political parties wanted the actor to apologize. However today Superstar Rajnikanth met media, and said that he will not apologize for the statements he had made and that he spoke facts.

Rajnikanth said that the event he had mentioned happened in 1971, and the news of the event was reported in The outlook, Hindu and he did not speak of something that never happened. Rajnikanth said that this incident was also confirmed by Lakshman who had conducted a dharna then and hence I will not apologize for my statements. When asked whether the protests planned against him outside his house are fearing his political entry, Rajnikanth said that this must be asked to those who are protesting.
