Actor Vikrant Massey, in a recent interview showered praises for actress Deepika Padukone. Massey, who shared screen with Deepika in 'Chappak' earlier this year recalled working with her and commented about her upstanding and strong personality.

It is hard to be a Deepika Padukone in our country. It is difficult to be a woman with a voice. She is the biggest star and an icon in our country. If she can be subjugated to this, then anyone could. Unfortunately, there is no public discourse today. I stand by what I said," said Vikrant.

This was probably in context with the backlash that Deepika faced during the release of 'Chappak' when she took a stand for DU students during riots in Delhi earlier this year.
