The Congress Party today has a new President and it is none other than its vice president Rahul Gandhi who has been unanimously elected to the post.  Sonia Gandhi his mother who held the post till yesterday has done so for a record time of 19 years which no one else has done so in the history of the century old party.

Rahul Gandhi will take the reigns of the Congress from the 16th of December at a time when majority of his detractors cannot write him off as they did earlier during the last elections.  The new Rahul seems to have learnt his lessons as his moves are sure footed judging by his Gujarat campaign and the civil manner in which he deals the opposition has most definately hit a chord with the younger generation.
