Budget 2019: 60,000 crores for Railways!

60,000 crores have been allocated for the Railway department in the 2019 Budget presented today.The BJP government at the centre presented its last budget of this tenure today in the Lok Sabha, and the same was presented by union finance minister Piyush Goyal.

Since last few years, it has become a practice to present the Railway budget along with the Union Budget, and in the budget presented today, several important announcements regarding the railway department were made. Finance Minister Piyush Goyal said that there are no unmanned railway crossings and 1 lakh digital villages will be formed in the next 5 years.

The revenues of the Railway department have increased from 6 lakhs and 38,000 crores to 12 lakh crores over the year, and this has been a historic rise compared to any recent year, and in this budget the funds allocated for railway department is a massive 64,587 crores. Smart coaches, Mission Raftaar to improve train speeds, launch of Vande Bharat express, launch of a new IRCTC site, railway job opportunities, were also proposed in the budget.
