Rajalakshmi and Senthil the husband and wife singing team won millions of hearts after their participation in Super Singer 2018. While Rajalakshmi was eliminated midway Senthil amidst tough competition won the title of the season. The couple have since been singing in a few films and are also continuing their stage programs in Tamil Nadu and abroad as well.

Singer Madurai Malli who is also a folk singer has alleged that Rajalakshmi has claimed on a stage that her sister Kalaivani has composed and sung a song "Maamanu Solla" but it is she who is the title owner of the song. In a television interview Madurai Malli has demanded apology from Rajalakshmi Senthil failing which she threatened to commit suicide.

Rajalakshmi on her YouTube channel has posted a video clarification in which she has stated that at a Sivan temple orchestra while introducing her sister she had mentioned that the devotional song is composed by Kalaivani. But a YouTube channel had edited two different videos together and made it sound that she implied that the controversial song was created by her sister. She has also provided the original footage of the video in which it is clearly shown that she did not mention the said song.

Rajalakshmi has further stated that the contentious YouTube channel has deleted the controversial video after apologizing to her.
