A documentary titled “RMV: The King Maker” has been released by Sathya Movies, focusing on the life of the late film producer and former minister R.M. Veerappan. The trailer includes interviews with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and actor Rajinikanth, who spoke about Veerappan’s influence and personal experiences with him.
Rajinikanth recalls an unfortunate incident at the 100-day celebration of his movie Baashha, where he made remarks about the “culture of bombings.” At that time, Veerappan was on stage as the producer. Because of Rajinikanth’s comments — which were perceived as being against the government — Veerappan was removed from his ministerial post by then CM Jayalalithaa.
An emotional Rajinikanth said that Veerappan, along with K. Balachander, Cho Ramaswamy, and Panchu Arunachalam, was one of the few who genuinely cared for him. After realizing the consequence of his speech, Rajinikanth called Veerappan and apologized, saying, “It was because of me that this happened.” Veerappan, however, reassured him and advised him not to dwell on it, proving his personal integrity and compassion.
Rajinikanth concluded by calling R.M. Veerappan a “true kingmaker,” highlighting the immense respect he had for the leader’s humility and wisdom, despite political setbacks.
