Rajkummar Rao shares his take on nepotism

Nepotism in Bollywood is a topic of never ending debate. Every now and then it comes into limelight and sparks discussions. While several celebrities believe that it is unfair towards outsiders, there are some who believe that nepotism is not an hindrance for talented and passionate artists. Actor Rajkummar Rao recently stated that although nepotism is certainly there, outsiders these days get lots of opportunities to prove themselves.

Speaking at a recent India Today event, Rajkummar stated, "Nepotism will always be there, but now there are many opportunities. I have friends who were my classmates but are getting recognition now, thanks to OTT platforms. Like Jaideep (Ahlawat) who did so well in Pataal Lok and Pratik (Gandhi) in Scam 1992. Nepotism will be there, but your work and talent will speak."

Rajkummar then went on to talk about how he always aspired to become an actor instead of s filmstar. He said, "I get awkward when people say I have become a star. I feel I am a common man who is doing something he loves to do. Growing up in Gurgaon, I wanted to become an actor but not a star. I could not speak in English initially when I entered Bollywood. I really worked on my language, but, apart from that, I am still the same person who I was 12 years ago."
