Ram Nath Kovind sweeps President polls

Ram Nath Kovind, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance's candidate, is the 14th president of India after he won the Presidential elections with more than 2/3 votes in his favour.

The former Bihar Governor was expected to be in a tight race with his only other competitor, Meira Kumari. Reports suggest that Kovind's massive win was due to cross voting in seven votes. PM Narendra Modi congratulated the new President and tweeted a picture of them together from 20 years ago.
