Rocking Star Yash’s transformation into Ravana is grabbing attention with a powerful new musical reveal from Ramayana: Rise of a Legend. Unveiled on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra, the special unit titled ‘Rise of Asura’ in Hindi showcases Yash in an imposing avatar as the mighty ruler of Lanka, offering a glimpse into the scale and intensity of his character.
The reveal comes as advance bookings for Namit Malhotra’s ambitious mythological epic open across India on October 20. Featuring striking visuals, intense expressions and a powerful musical sequence, the new unit places Ravana at the centre of the spotlight, adding to the growing anticipation surrounding the film.
Yash’s Ravana Gets a Powerful Tandav Moment
Yash makes a striking impression in the newly released unit, with his commanding physical presence and carefully crafted appearance bringing a larger-than-life quality to Ravana. The sequence highlights the character’s strength, intensity and imposing personality, presenting him as a formidable figure in this retelling of the Ramayana.
The musical sequence draws inspiration from the mythological association between Ravana and Lord Shiva. According to Hindu tradition, Ravana was a devoted follower of Shiva and is associated with the celebrated Shiva Tandav Stotram, a hymn renowned for its powerful rhythm and praise of the deity.
Tandav represents the cosmic dance of Lord Shiva, traditionally associated with the cycles of creation, preservation and destruction. By drawing on this imagery, the new promotional unit offers a glimpse into Ravana’s devotional and powerful dimensions, adding a mythological layer to Yash’s portrayal.
AR Rahman’s Musical Supervision Adds to the Impact
The Ravana Tandav unit has been released under the T-Series label, with different titles across languages. It is called Rise of Asura in Hindi, Ravana Tandava in Kannada and Ravana Tandavam in Telugu and Tamil.
The Hindi version features vocals by Vishal Dadlani, lyrics by Dr Kumar Vishwas, and music supervision by A.R. Rahman and Hiral Viradia. The Telugu lyrics have been penned by Rakendu Mouli, with Devi Sri Prasad lending his voice to the track.
The musical presentation plays a central role in establishing the sequence’s intensity, complementing Yash’s appearance and the grand visual treatment. The multilingual versions also reflect the makers’ plans to present the epic to audiences across different regions.

Ranbir Kapoor and Yash Lead the Ramayana Epic
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana features an ensemble cast led by Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.
The casting brings together prominent stars to portray some of the most recognisable figures in Indian mythology. While Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of Lord Rama will be central to the epic’s narrative, Yash’s Ravana is emerging as one of the major attractions of the film’s promotional campaign.
The Dussehra reveal carries particular significance because the festival commemorates Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana in widely observed Hindu traditions. By unveiling the Ravana-focused musical sequence on this occasion, the makers have connected the film’s promotional campaign with the epic’s enduring cultural significance.
Ramayana Release Date and Production Details
Produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana is being developed as a two-part cinematic epic.

Sony Pictures is handling global distribution outside India, while Dharma Productions will distribute the film in the Hindi-speaking market.
With its ambitious scale, star-studded cast and music-driven promotional reveals, Ramayana is building anticipation ahead of its theatrical debut. Yash’s latest transformation into Ravana adds another major talking point, offering audiences an early glimpse of how one of Indian mythology’s most complex and formidable characters has been envisioned for the big screen.
