Kannada actress Ranya Rao's gold smuggling case has taken another turn. According to the latest information, Telugu actor Tarun Raj Konduru, aka Virat Konduru, was arrested by police officials on Tuesday morning. Two weeks ago, Ranya Rao was caught by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials at the Bangalore airport while bringing 14 kg of gold from Dubai.

Ranya Rao's stepfather and senior IPS officer, K. Ramachandra Rao, is suspected of being involved. The Karnataka government has also ordered an inquiry into this. The DGP (Police Housing Board) has sent Ramachandra Rao on compulsory leave. In this order, an investigation team led by IAS officer Gaurav Gupta investigated. His statement was recorded to this extent.

It has been revealed that Tarun and Ranya Rao have been in a relationship since 2019. They are reported to have gone to Dubai together several times. The DRI found that they used their US passports to avoid being caught by customs checks in Dubai.

The investigation also revealed that Ranya Rao smuggled gold with this passport's help. The two of them established a company in Dubai called Veera Diamonds Trading in 2023 to buy and sell gold. Both have 50 percent shares in it.

While Ranya Rao is the primary investor, it has been shown that Tarun is looking after all the transactions. The police have found that the aim is to import gold to Dubai and sell it in the local market. In this context, the Bengaluru police have arrested Tarun Raj.

Meanwhile, Tarun Raj made his debut with the film Parichayam.
