'Rascals' to score, 'Love Breakups Zindagi' may surprise

Three films release this weekend - 'Rascals', 'Love Breakups Zindagi' and 'Soundtrack'. In fact 'Rascals' has already seen an early release on Thursday to coincide with the festival of 'Dusshehra'. Between the three films, while 'Rascals' comes with good potential to make it's presence felt amongst the mass audience, 'Love Breakups Zindagi' should find good audience in class dominated multiplexes. On the other hand 'Soundtrack' appears to be on a rocking boat.

Talking about 'Rascals', the film is an out and out massy film and though on the face value it seems like a good packaging, surprisingly the promos haven't created as much buzz as a 'Double Dhamaal' or an 'All The Best'. Yes, audience perception about the film is still decent to good but it is not fantastic enough to warrant a phenomenal start over the weekend. Also, the film's songs haven't caught on which means the entire hype depends upon it's starcast. As things stand today, the film should take a 60%-70% opening with chances to do lot more over the weekdays if the film indeed brings back vintage David Dhawan magic.

Not much was said and heard about 'Love Breakups Zindagi' during it's making. However credit it to first time producers (and also actors) Dia Mirza and Zayed Khan who have actually pumped up the marketing and promotion of the film enough in last one month to create good visibility at the least. In it's own limited capacity, this medium budgeted film has managed to create good buzz amongst the city audience which means at multiplexes, there are chances of decent footfalls. If the film managed to take an opening of 50%, it could well be celebration time for the makers.

As for 'Soundtrack', it has chances to get good reviews since it's an official remake of an acclaimed Canadian film. However commercially this Rajeev Khandelwal-Soha Ali Khan film may well struggle outside key multiplexes due to lack of buzz as well as release timing since it is arriving in a clutter.
