Tamil Nadu, like the rest of India, is in a campaign mode. The DMK-led UPA alliance is facing strong competition from the AIADMK-led NDA. Yesteryear hero Karthik has been campaigning for the latter. Recently, he was in Thoothukudi campaigning for BJP's Tamilisai Soundararajan. During the rally, he delivered an emotive speech.

Giving a fiery speech, Karthik said that he is ready to take guns in his hands and go to the border and fight for the nation. He had initially wanted to be a pilot and got trained in National Defence Academy but fate had turned him an actor.

Karthik said that seeing the response ADMK alliance is getting in the city, he felt that it was the right decision on his part to support the alliance.
