In a Dutch lower-league football game between Harkemase Boys and HSV Hoek, the referee scored a goal against the boys in red. Hoek midfielder Rik Impens took a second shot at the goal, but he did not manage to score. Not to worry however as referee Maurice Paarhuis scored the goal himself by deflecting the ball into the goal by accident.

He then allowed the goal to the dismay of the Harkemase Boys who began to run up to him and protest. The credit for the goal was given to Hoek player Kyle Doesburg. Thankfully the goal did not change the match and the Harkemase Boys won 4-2. Sharing the video on Twitter, the team said: “Never experienced this.”

The rules are to change soon and the same goal would have been declared a drop ball a few days later. Looks like the referee scored just in time to make the goal count!
