Superstar Rajinikanth is expected to attend the audio launch of Suriya's upcoming film Retro, a romantic action thriller directed by Karthik Subbaraj. After facing a setback with his previous film Kanguva, Suriya is gearing up for a fresh comeback with a 70s-themed retro transformation as the character Paarivel Kannan. The movie, made with a budget of ₹65 Crore, has been produced by Suriya’s 2D Entertainment and Karthik Subbaraj’s Stone Bench Creations. Scheduled to release on May 1, 2024, it carries the tagline “Love, Laughter, and War.”

The pre-release event will take place at Nehru Indoor Stadium on April 18, where the complete audio album composed by Santhosh Narayanan (SaNa) will be released, along with the official theatrical trailer. Social media is buzzing with anticipation from fans and the film’s cast.

Retro was filmed across locations such as the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Ooty, Kerala, and Chennai between June and October 2024. Pooja Hegde stars opposite Suriya as Rukmini Paarivel. The cast also includes Jayaram, Joju George, Karunakaran, Nassar, Prakash Raj, and Nandita Das, among others. Shriya Saran appears in a special dance number, and SaNa makes a cameo appearance in the song "Kanimaa."

The movie’s visuals are captured by cinematographer Shreyaas Krishna, while Shafique Mohamed Ali handled the editing. With its retro theme and star-studded cast, Retro is expected to be a treat for fans and moviegoers alike.
